A to Z Guides

The books

The ‘A to Z’ guide books are designed with the traveller in mind. During our initial market research, many tourists complained that the majority of guide books were too small, making them almost unreadable on the move. We confirmed that the normal paperback book size was the most user-friendly and so the 2012 edition book size is 5.2″ x 8″, small enough to carry, yet easy to read.

A further issue raised by the majority of interviewees was the inaccuracy of guide books that are not regularly updated and re-published. As a prime objective for my books was to offer the reader up to date and accurate information on the islands, the publishing process we adopted was the new technology of Print on Demand *. Unlike the majority of traditionally printed guide books, Print on Demand allows us to totally revise and re-publish the ‘A to Z’ guide books on an annual basis and even during the year when changes to the information within the books necessitates an early revision. However, one drawback of POD at present is that the process precludes the cost effective addition of colour photographs. For those who would like a pictorial view of their destination, I have as you will see above, incorporated a Gallery containing a selection of images from each island including our YouTube videos and confirm that as soon as the printing process allows, colour photographs will be incorporated into the books. I am pleased to say that the response from readers is that my decision to rank accurate and up to date information above all else is the correct one, I hope you agree.

When I set out to write my travel guides, a further aim was to guarantee their impartiality and integrity. To that end           ‘A to Z Guides’ do not solicit or accept payment to include any company or their services in the publications. Only when it is in the interest of the reader do we include, free of charge, named businesses. Our income comes exclusively from the sale of our travel guide books.

The website

Unique to the guide book marketplace, this ‘A to Z’ website is designed to combine the power of the Internet with the published books to bring you a “One stop shop” with all the information you need to plan and enjoy the perfect holiday. Click on the chosen island tab on the right and you will find comprehensive information on the book, the very latest news for that island (revised daily), travel information and more. So both before you travel and whilst on holiday, you can log on and be kept up-dated.

On the Information page are printable documents covering the ‘A to Z Discount Scheme’ and a wide range of holiday related issues, you will also find both basic and detailed colour maps of each island. The Links page will take you to where you can find island web cameras, international exchange rates and advice on money matters, budget airline cost checkers, airport delay checker, stores where you can buy those useful travel accessories, Plane Finder and more.

On the weather page you will find 4 to 15 day weather forecasts for each island and at the bottom of every page you will see a list of the latest articles we have added.

Last but not least, the News page is where we will post more general tourism related articles about Greece.

At the rear of each book I have included a notepad section so that you can record any of the news items or information of interest to you.

I hope you will find both my guide books and this website to be the perfect travelling companion.

Wishing you a happy holiday

For an introductory period, access to the full website will be open to all. However, in the future the main information pages will only be accessible to ‘A to Z Travel Club’ members.
