I have received emails from people concerned by the recent news coverage of the political situation in Greece and asking for honest information regarding holidays on the islands.
Sadly once again there has been some scaremongering in the media regarding holidays in Greece this summer. If (and it is very doubtful) Greece does leave the euro, there will be little or no detrimental effect on tourists. On the contrary, as some reports correctly suggest, visitors would have a bonanza with an amazing drachma exchange rate!
The islanders are totally committed to offering summer visitors the same warm welcome, hospitality and value for money that has been instrumental in building the Greek islands’ reputation as a top European holiday destination.
Once on the islands, you will find the cost of such things as accommodation, meals and entertainment continuing to be traditionally low, with businesses appreciating even more the necessity to offer high quality at attractive prices.
An English couple, Jean and Roger who I met today commented “We are having a glorious time and we are amazed that there is no sign of the problems highlighted in the media back home. In fact we have found prices even lower than last time we visited!”
All I have spoken to on the islands have voiced their hope that once again they can offer old friends and new visitors a wonderful vacation this summer.
